Childhood is filled with journeys that begin in the imagination. With the Bun Van Bed, Circu Magical Furniture brings the spirit of the open road into the bedroom, transforming a familiar camper van into an extraordinary place to sleep, play, and dream. Inspired by the iconic Fillmore van from Disney’s Cars, the design invites children to imagine every bedtime as the beginning of a new adventure.
The Bun Van takes its visual inspiration from the carefree character of the 1960s camper van. Its rounded exterior, glossy finish, and chrome plated details give it the recognisable presence of a vintage vehicle, while its playful proportions make it feel perfectly at home in a child’s room. Available in alternative colours, the design brings a sense of personality to the space, turning the bed into an unmistakable focal point. (Circu)
Behind its distinctive exterior, the Bun Van reveals an interior finished in palisander wood veneer. The contrast between the polished outer shell and the warm wood creates a sense of discovery, as though the van has opened onto a hidden world. Storage compartments are integrated throughout, giving toys, books, and everyday essentials their own place while allowing the bedroom to remain part of the adventure.
The Bun Van is conceived as a complete bedroom set rather than a conventional bed. Alongside the sleeping area, it can include a television, desk, mini bar, and sofa, creating different spaces for rest, entertainment, and creative activities. Its generous dimensions make room for a whole range of experiences, from quiet reading to afternoons spent imagining life on the road. The result is a piece of furniture that brings several parts of a child’s daily world together. (Circu)
The playful concept is supported by a thoughtful combination of materials and finishes. The exterior is produced in fiberglass with chrome plated details, while the interior incorporates palisander wood veneer. Glossy varnish enhances the van’s distinctive silhouette, allowing light to move across its curved surfaces. Handmade in Portugal, the Bun Van reflects Circu’s approach to children’s furniture, where imaginative forms meet detailed production and a strong sense of craftsmanship. (Circu)
Ultimately, the Bun Van Bed captures the idea that a child’s bedroom can be much more than a place for rest. It becomes a setting for stories, games, and imagined journeys, with every detail encouraging a sense of possibility. By bringing the freedom of travel into the intimacy of home, Circu creates a design that turns everyday routines into memorable moments and gives childhood a little more room to roam.
