Maddie Ziegler, 14
Maddie Ziegler is best known for dancing as pop star Sia’s alter ego on tour and in smash-hit videos like “Chandelier” and “The Greatest” and has been called the “first digital dance star”. She had previously appeared on Lifetime’s reality hit Dance Moms, but her ambitions go beyond the dance world since, this year, she launched her own clothing line, Maddie, and voiced a character in the upcoming animated movie, Ballerina. Also, she recently became the youngest-ever judge on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance.

Skai Jackson, 14
Skai Jackson is a star from Disney Channel’s show Jessie. Thanks to an image that the model and Bunk’d star tweeted of herself sitting primly on a chair, she became an Internet meme. Jackson then her newfound notoriety, from the meme, to be a force for good — speaking out against cyberbullying. Making her one of our most cherrished empowering kids of 2016. Also, a comic-book artist recently revealed that Jackson was the inspiration behind Marvel’s new hero, Riri Williams.

Logan Guleff, 14
Logan Guleff first appeared on The Today Show at the age of 9 to demonstrate a recipe he submitted to the Most Creative Sandwich Contest. In 2014 entered the MasterChef Junior and became champion, since then he became a rising star in the culinary world. Later this year, he was named Best New Southern Cook by Southern Living‘s  and earned a spot on Fortune’s list: 18 Under 18. He’s also the youngest certified judge on the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and the youngest chef to cook at the famous James Beard House in New York City. However, Guleff’s talents aren’t confined to the kitchen exclusively: his entrepreneurial ventures include a line of hand-blended spices called Logan’s Rub and a soon-to-be-released cookbook.

Gaten Matarazzo, 14
Gaten Matarazzo is best known as the charismatic star on the Netflix hit Stranger Things. He was acclaimed for his portrayal of nerd-hero Dustin, who, like Matarazzo, speaks with a lisp, a condition almost never seen on screen. Matarazzo was born with cleidocranial dysplasia, which stalled the development of his teeth. This didn’t hold him back and he seized the opportunity to speak out. And he’s since become, as he puts it, the voice and an advocate for self-acceptance for this “one-in-a-million” condition and one of our most adorable empowering kids of 2016.

Sasha Obama, 15, and Malia Obama, 18
Sasha and Malia Obama don’t give official interviews nor make frequent public appearances. The President Obama’s daughters are widely considered promising American icons. This year, Sasha helped her mom, Michelle Obama, promote women’s education in Liberia and Morocco. Malia broke the tabu of gap years after opting to delay her first semester at Harvard. Sasha and Malia — by virtue of their elegance, intellect and general aura of awesomeness — have since become role models, especially for the many young black women.
