Bedroom Ideas – A Pastel Retreat by Oni Architects

Founded in 2015, Oni Architects is an incredible practice run by Alexander Melnikov and Alexander Kharinotov. Even though it might seem contradictory, their design philosophy is based on 2 core principles: style and functionality. This project we’ll show you today is the epitome of the perfect balance between these two principles.

Let’s start with the colour palette in this bedroom set. The soft pink, pastel shades create a soft contrast, while elements such as the olive green ride-on toy create soft yet significative colour pops. This palette choice makes it seem like the room as actually way bigger than what it is, allowing a lot of light to enter and cover the whole room. This palette also adds a peaceful and comfortable vibe to the bedroom, creating the perfect environment to raise a child.

In the middle of the room, you have a texturized, soft pink structure where you can find the two beds. By having this structure, the designers automatically designated different areas with different goals in the bedroom. The texture here is of the utmost importance thus, as we know, children love to touch things and it is critical that we are able to create the best circumstances for our kids to be curious, comfortable and safe. A comfy rug was placed in between both beds which allow nor only for the children to be barefoot but also creates the perfect spot for hangouts and secret conversations between them in their new, stylish safe space.

Another key feature of this bedroom project is the built-in storage spaces. By having these, the designers saved no only a lot of space in the room but, it might seem a bit contradictory, created a lot of storage space which allows the bedroom to be tidy at all times. These storage spaces also create more architectonical features in the room.

The outskirts of the room’s central structure have more than enough space where the children can pursue their wildest fantasies. The simplicity of the space creates a blank canvas for the kids to design their adventures in the safety of their room. The two minimalist stools add a seating area where they can sit and read their favourite stories ins perfect comfort.
