Sara Story Design has built a reputation for infusing all of her designs with an indescribable style she can fully call her own since launching her eponymous design studio.
Sara Story’s aesthetic vision is crisp, elegant, and comfortable gestures that consciously combine numerous elements of good design for an everyday, polished living, drawing inspiration from significant travels, an active interest in modern art and fashion, and a rigorous lifestyle.
Sara Story has a B.F.A. from the University of San Diego and an Interior Architecture degree from San Francisco’s Academy of Art University. Sara Story rose to prominence as a result of critical acclaim for her Gramercy Park townhouse refurbishment, and Elle Décor named her one of the “Top 5 to Watch.” She was named one of New York’s Top 50 Designers by NY Spaces.
One of the firm’s home projects was named to The 1stdibs 50 in 2019, as well as a finalist in the Interior Design Best of the Year Awards. The company was named to the LUXE Gold List in 2020. Sara Story’s work has also been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest, Interior Design, Galerie, LUXE, Aspire, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times.
Sara Story serves on the board of directors of Ballroom Marfa, a contemporary art venue in Marfa, Texas, dedicated to allowing artists to express themselves freely via culturally significant art. She is also a member of the Design Leadership Network and America’s Society.
The firm, which is always changing, continues to work on residential and commercial projects all around the world and has several successful product collaborations. Sara Story debuted a wallpaper line in 2012 that reinterprets traditional Asian motifs for a modern audience with both classic and edgy preferences. In the spring of 2015, she released her second wallpaper collection, which was inspired by her love of travel.
In 2019, SA Baxter Hardware collaborated on a one-of-a-kind series called “Center Point.” The possibilities are endless for a woman who participates on a championship elephant polo team every year.
The Diamond Emerald Sideboard, in green emerald, has three highly sculptured doors opening to a gold leaf interior with a shelf and two drawers, with the style of a valuable jewel. The exterior of this ornate piece has been refinished in silver leaf and a magnificent shade of translucent green emerald with a high gloss lacquer.
