There’s a new district in Milan preparing to make its debut in Milan Design Week 2019: it’s La Repubblica del Design and it’s made from 40 locations spread across the neighbourhoods of Dergano and Bovisa.
This area is following in the footsteps of the most famous and established design zones in Milan, among them we can count Brera Design District, Tortona, and the 5VIE. Now in this year’s edition of Milan Design Week comes La Repubblica del Design, mostly located in the northern part of the city. One of the places that are included in this area is near the Politecnico di Milano, an establishment that ironically was excluded from the traditional Design Week circuits in past events.
This new district is part of a new project created by Davide Crippa, along with ADA (Associazione Designer Anonimi). The Repubblica del Design has as its main goals of becoming a visionary project as well as an area that promotes knowledge and research in design with a focus in redesigning urban fragments as well as social regeneration.
Many companies and designers have already manifested their enthusiasm for a new design district for Milan Design Week, and have already signed up to be on board its debut. Among the studios, we can point to CTRLZAK, Foro Studio, Be Part and Ideas Bit Factory. When it comes to designers we can count Alessandro Guerriero, Carlo Contin, Natali Crasset, and Lorenzo Damiani.
When it comes to the locales to animate the district during Milan Design Week we can count a concentrated core of design studios located in an area mostly composed by post-industrial buildings. More details have yet to be released, however, it’s confirmed that this initiative will be all set just in time for Fuorisalone 2019.
